Where to begin – Recreating Nottingham Victoria Station

Despite gathering every single photo I can of the main building I’m struggling to get the proportions correct. They are just not feeling right.

Ive got some measurements from various sources (though they seem to all conflict with each other) which I’m trying to work to.

All the photographs I’ve found are taken from an offset angle, which at the time 1900 – 1960 would of been the senseible / correct thing to do from any disaplined photographer for sake of composition and taking a good interesting photo of a building.

Well I suppose it would of also of been hard to fit the whole building in complete with clock tower in, face on considering the buildings in front of it.

Photography wise we take for granted the fact that at one time photographers were restricted to a roll of film, rather than the unlimited photo count of a modern camera or mobile camera phone.

Ive attached a couple of renders of the first couple of sessions in my attempt to get this project off the ground.

I think once I get the proportions correct things shouldn’t be too bad. Victorian artiteture is often detailed but repeative, so that means if I got one piece correct I can just copy and paste it, simple right? We will see haha.
